SELF COMPASSION
We are so used to beating ourselves up for our shortcomings, berating ourselves for not doing the best and not being perfect that we don’t realize how harsh and unloving we are with our own selves. We don’t realize that we cannot be truly loving and accepting of our children, spouses, family, friends and co-workers if we cannot treat ourselves with kindness. Compassion for others begins with compassion for our own selves. This 7-session series (started in 2011) focused on developing self-compassion and mindfulness practice through exercises and discussion.

EMOTIONAL ALCHEMY
The practice of Mindfulness is a powerful way of increasing our moment-to-moment awareness of our internal states – our emotions, our thoughts, our urges towards certain actions and our habitual ways of relating to people in our lives. This heightened awareness creates the space in our mind for choices. In that split second of ‘mindful’ awareness it is possible to entertain new ideas, control our impulses and direct our thoughts in healthy ways that are beneficial to us. We need not be trapped by habitual thoughts and self-defeating behaviours repeatedly playing havoc in our lives.
These SIX sessions explored the effects of mindfulness in our lives and the application of mindfulness to modifying our habitual ways of relating to the world.
